Forget Bomb-Sniffing Dogs, Why Not Mice?

Israeli researchers have trained mice to sniff for bombs instead of dogs.  Eight mice are placed in one container and air is pumped into the container.  The mice are trained to flee when they smell explosive materials.  When the mice detect an explosive, they flee to the back corner of the cage.  For there to be an alarm more than one mouse most move to the back corner.  This system is said to be more accurate than x-ray or dogs.  In a test of the new system, the mice were able to pick out which 22 people out of 1000 people were carring fake explosives.
